Acolytes: From the Greek word “akoloutheo” meaning to follow or obey. Our acolytes assist the priest at the altar in many aspects of our worship service. In doing so they learn more fully the liturgy of the church. All young people are invited to join in this ministry. The age of readiness to be an acolyte varies.
All Saint’s Choir: The choir serves occasionally and for special services. It is open to voices of all ages and is under the direction of Sherry Lockett. Practice is pulled together as needed and typically after the 10:30 worship service.
Altar Guild: The altar is tended to by a group of volunteers who make sure that the altar is prepared for Eucharistic services on Sundays and any special services. To join, just ask!
Chalice Bearers/Lay Readers: This ministry is open to all baptized members 16 and older. Training is available from the Rector. The lessons may be read by anyone interested in doing so. Youth are encouraged to read the lessons!
Episcopal Church Women (E.C.W.): All women who worship in the Episcopal Church are members of ECW. All Saints’ ECW meets on an as-needed basis and supports both a prayer shawl ministry and hospitality. For more information you may contact Sharon Neathery (417-256-3606).
Flower Ministry: Flowers on the altar are organized with the help of the Altar Guild. If you would like to donate the flowers as a memorial or thanksgiving, please place your name on the flower chart in the entry way. Further instructions appear there. Questions? Call the church at 256-2215 or talk to a member of the Altar Guild.
The Maintenance Team: This team is lead by the Junior Warden and oversees the maintenance needs of our buildings and grounds. See Junior Warden, John Burgdorf, for more information.
Sunday School: Currently Sunday School for all ages is at 9:30 am. Adults meet in the parish hall and have a variety of topics. Younger children enjoy lessons and art from the “Godly Play” series.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper: 5:00 to 7:00 pm. This is our traditional feast for Mardi Gras before we begin to fast on Ash Wednesday. There are opportunities from advertising to set up to cooking to serving to clean up. The supplies needed are mostly donated and the money raised is used to support youth programs.
Lenten Wednesdays: Soup for supper at 6:00 pm and an ecumenical service at 7:00 pm are shared with 5 other churches (First Christian, First United Methodist, First Presbyterian, St. Mary’s Catholic and St. Paul’s Lutheran) each Wednesday during Lent. Watch for a schedule of services.
All Saints’ Day Celebration: A tradition at All Saints. We gather to celebrate our name day and the many ministries of this church and her people.
Outreach: All Saints’ Church committed 5% of our monthly income to outreach in our local community beginning in July 2006. We continue a $50 monthly gift and food collection for Samaritan Outreach. Money has been donated to Christos House, Ozark Action School Supply Fair, Ministerial Alliance and Howell-Oregon Electric Coop for utility assistance and other local charities. All Saints also commits 0.7% of our annual income to support the Millennium Development Goals.
Stewardship: Oversees the stewardship process at All Saints and is chaired by Dusty Shaw.
The annual giving campaign begins at the All Saints’ Day Celebration.
Vestry: A six-member board elected by the people of All Saints’ Church. Vestry members are elected to a three-year term with three members being elected at every annual meeting. The Vestry attends to the business of the church. All Baptized members 16 years of age and over are eligible to serve on the Vestry.
Diocesan Convention Delegates: Two delegates and one alternate are elected to represent All Saints at the annual Diocesan Convention. These delegates are encouraged to attend meetings of the Southern Deanery, as they are able.
